I got a fucking ticket yesterday. When entering post, some Nazi bitch of a guard was pulling over, like, every other car and she pulled us over because Owen was not in a booster seat.
We were confused because Owen is over the 4o pounds required to have him out of a booster and he was in his seat belt and behaving himself so we didn’t understand what was going on.
We sit at the gate for, like, ever and wait for the police. The cop comes out there and we explain to him that we’re unsure of why we’ve been pulled over since no laws were being broken. At this point, we are informed that the law has changed and that as of June 1st, all children under 8 have to be in booster seats.
What the fuck? How in the hell were we supposed to know that?
So, Dean says to the cop, “What the fuck? How were we supposed to know that?” and the cop says, “Well, maybe you should read the newspaper.”
So, basically, we got a ticket because we don’t read the newspaper and we don’t have a tiny chip in our heads that goes alerting us every time a law changes.
Dean tells the cop that we are not paying that ticket and that we will contest it in court. I find it bullshit that we weren’t just given a heads up or a warning or something instead of a ticket.
We go through that gate every single day and at any given point, a guard could have informed or given us a flyer about this recent change of stupid laws. Nope. It seems that we must rely on our abilities to just know these things without having to be told.
Because everyone can do that.
Am I weird for thinking this is bullshit? Is my 95 pound 8 year old required to be in a booster seat? I have a very hard time knowing that the kid I borrow clothes from should be required to sit in a booster seat.
Dean had better start eating more or he’s going to end up in one, too.
